About us

The name Ato has a very personal background and originates from the Igbo (African) language. When we were looking at names for our design studio, and analyzing what is important to us, such as pushing boundaries, having an open mindset, putting the team in the center of our actions, and staying close and true to our values – it came naturally to us to choose the word “Ato“ which means “three“. Ato was founded by Christina Bauer, Marilena Scharinger and Bernadette Hahn. Our studio was formed out of a close relationship, a friendship between three women, which was formed over years. In this constellation we’ve been working together for quite a long time.
